Cracking (mud cracking)

Cracking that takes shape similar to that of mud when it dries and bursts.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

• Apply paint in very large thickness (not proper drying and hardening).
• Poor quality paints with high content of fillers. In combination with a large thickness, when the film dries, its cohesion is “lost”.
• Apply paint on a solvent primer that has not dried completely. As a result, the solvents of the primer do not evaporate, which are trapped and “lift” the final color.

THE SOLUTION

• Remove the paint on the problem area, by scratching and / or sanding. Remove dust before repainting. Use primer if needed and good quality final paint (depending on the type of surface).
